Air China's Chengdu-Frankfurt nonstop service three-times weekly

Economic connection between Europe and southwestern China

chengdu airport chinaThe new nonstop Chengdu-Frankfurt service will first take off on May 19, 2013.

Air China's new service between Frankfurt and southwestern China's Chengdu Airport will guarantee a top position for Chengdu as the main transportation hub in the region. The direct flights will offer a faster and more economic travel between europe and southwestern Chinese cities than ever before.

Chengdu, the capital of a province, aslo called as China’s breadbasket, has the largest growth potential among all  southwestern Chinese cities.

In the past few years there has been a huge growth in the number of outbound passengers from Chengdu and other cities in the region, like Lhasa, Xi'an and Kunming. Passengers, heading to Germany, while using Chengdu Airport, had to transfer in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing and their journey take at least 15 hours. With Air China's direct flight this time will decrease to as low as 10 hours.

Chengdu will be the third Mainland Chinese Airport to offer direct flights to Frankfurt Airport, one of the most important gateways of Europe.

Air China foresees a huge growth in the tourism and economy of southwestern China, thanks to the shorter travel time and the comfort of a nonstop service.

Chengdu is one of Air China’s most important regional airport in southwestern China. The Chinese air carrier operates over 62 international, domestic and regional flights. Only Beijing and Shanghai Airports are more relevant in Mainland China's air traffic.

Frankfurt is Europe's second largest airport and the main air transport hub of Germany. Frankfurt Airport offers more than 260 routes to the World. The German airport is also the home to Air China Europe Regional Headquarters and Star Alliance Headquarters.

The new Air China flights not only offer an easier travel between the two cities or the two countries, but passengers can also benefit from the huge network of Star Alliance, having an easy access to 1356 destinations in 193 countries.

According to current informations the service will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 and will be available on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Flight will leave Chengdu Airport at 01:30 and arrive in Frankfurt on the same day at 06:10. Return flights will take off at 14:00 and arrive in Chengdu at 05:40 the next day.
