Boeing's Dreamliners are grounded due to onboard fire

Boeing's latest technology aircraft, B747 (Dreamliner) suffers from various technical problems

boeing 787 dreamliner tui travel thomson airlines norwegian air shuttleOn 8 February Boeing informed Thomson Airways (owned by the British TUI Travel) and Norwegian Air Shuttle that their orders for the B787 Dreamliner would be delayed.

On 16 January authorities grounded all 787s all over the world after one of the aircraft's battery set fire in Boston and a second incident involving a battery in Japan.

Arlines, using the 787 in their fleet, are loosing tens of millions of dollars.

Thomson already made a huge advertising campaign, started in April 2012, advocating the Dreamliner as the future's long-haul aircraft.

Thomson planned the first flights with the 787 in May this year. The airline planned to use the aircrafts for its Mexico and Florida holidays.

Norwegian expected the first 8 aircrafts already in April and they already sold a lot of tickets on a deeply discounted rate.

TUI Travel does not plan to cancel its order for 13 Dreamliners.
