British MEP claims Ryanair for free carry-on bags

Carry-on bags in the spotlight of EU

ryanairEarlier this week, Brian Simpson (UK MEP), President of the European Parliament's Transport and Tourism Committee called for new flight rules in Europe. One of the main points of these rules would be to force airlines to allow more than one carry-on bag on-board.

The debate got high after Ryanair refused to allow more than one bag per passenger on its aircrafts. The low fares airline claimed that their decision has security reasons, and according their experience all overhead lockers and the storage space under the seats are fully loaded.

Some member of the European Parliament accused Ryanair that their only goal with the 10kg free of charge carry-on bag policy is to charge additional luggages and generate extra revenues for the airline. Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara called this absurd asd untrue, furthermore again expressed that the one carry-on bag per passenger limit has solely security reasons.

The average load factor in the industry is 77.3 per cent, while Ryanair maintained as high as 83 per cent.
