Aéroport de Budapest (BUD)

budapest airport taxi transfers and shuttle service

We offer the best rates for low cost airport taxi transfers from Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport to Budapest or any other part of Hungary. Upon arrival at the airport, your driver will wait for you at the meeting point (the meeting point is always specified in your airport transfer voucher). If you need a taxi or airport transfer from the airport, your driver will inform you about the exact pick up time at least 24 hours before the transfer. The distance of the city is 16 kilometres from the airport.

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (Hungarian: Budapest Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér) (IATA:BUD, ICAO: LHBP), formerly named as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport , is the main and largest international airport in Hungary, in east-southeast direction of the centre of Budapest, capital of Hungary. The name of the airport is after the famous pianist and composer, Ferenc (Franz) Liszt.

International connections of the aiport can mainly be found within Europe, but passengers can also find flights to Africa and the Middle East from here. In 2012, the airport handled 8.5 million passengers and experienced a significant drop in aircraft movements and handled cargo, primarily due to the collapse of Malév Hungarian Airlines earlier in the year, hence losing a large portion of connecting passengers. It was the hub for Malév. After the Hungarian airline’s bankruptcy on 3 February 2012, the airport serves as a base for Ryanair and Wizz Air.

The construction of the airport goes back to the 40s: it had commenced in 1942. After the post-war reconstruction and continous growth the airport needed new infastructure due to the rapidly growing number of passengers and aircrafts. Today it has 2 terminals but only the Terminal 2A and 2B receive passengers.

There is a Skycourt between the 2A and 2B terminals with 5 levels. Today the passenger safety checks work here along with new baggage classifiers. New shops, restaurants and cafés were placed in the new building's transit hall, for example a Duty Free Shop, Hungarian wine and food shop, Herend porcelain shop, Frey Wille, Caprice, Costa Café, Burger King, KFC, Hippopotamus restaurant and a Gundel Bistro, affiliate of the famous Hungarian haute-cuisine restaurant in the city center.

With the opening of Skycourt the Terminal 2 is capable of receiving about 11 million passengers a year, which is far more than the former joint capacity of about 7 million. At Terminal 2 passengers can enjoy the following facilities: ATMs (except within the international transit area, where the passenger must exchange currency), bureaux de change, left luggage, first aid, duty-free shops, child care, post office, a chapel, restaurants, tourist information and hotel reservations. A short walk away from Terminal 2 there is an open-air aircraft museum. Short and long-term car parks has been constructed close to the terminal buildings.

The airport is connected with the city by a 16 kilometres high-speed road which enables a quick access to the centre of Budapest. Highways and a motorway near the airport make the city’s get around easy so passengers can get to the different parts of the country without greater inconveniences.
