Malaga Airport (AGP)

Malaga Airport

Málaga Airport, officially Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (Aeropuerto de Málaga-Costa del Sol) is the fourth busiest airport in Spain after Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca. It is an important airport for Spanish tourism as it is the main international airport serving the Costa del Sol. It is 8 km southwest of Málaga and 5 km north of Torremolinos. Málaga - Costa del Sol Airport is the international airport of Andalucia and is the only one offering a wide variety of international destinations. Around 20 million passengers pass through this airport each year. The airport has flight connections to over 60 countries worldwide. The airport is connected to the Costa del Sol and has a daily link with twenty cities in Spain and over 100 cities in Europe. Direct flights also operate to Africa, North America and also Middle East, in the summer season.

Airport Terminals and Airlines

The airport has three passenger terminals, but all the flights depart from Terminal 3 (in some cases the check-in is done at other terminals). First floor is for departures while the ground floor is for arrivals. The airport is mainly used by low-cost carriers, being Ryanair, EasyJet and Vueling - the airlines operating more flights. AP Portugal, Transavia, TUIfly, Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, Air Arabia Maroc, Air Baltic, Air Europa, Air Malta, Air Nostrum, Air Transat, Alitalia, BA CityFlyer, Blue Air, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Bulgaria Air, Delta Airlines are just a few among the many airlines operating at this airport.

Airport Services and Facilities

If you are coming to Malaga through the airport do note that most of the shops are only accessible for passengers after passing the security control, including the Duty Free shops.
All shops situated after passing the security control on 1st floor have easy access, they are in the left or right row just before reaching the boarding gates. Jewelry, fashion and accessories, pharmacies, toys and children's clothing, electronics, press, magazines and gifts, tobacco products, and much more are all to be found at this airport – a wide selection you can choose from. Duty-free shopping is available airside to passengers departing from Terminals 2 or 3.

You can also find a wide selection of foods at this airport, ranging from local flavors to international hot plates, wine and beer, tapas and fast food, or perhaps baked goods, coffee and pastries, all served day or night throughout the many bars restaurants and cafes at the Malaga Airport.

Free unlimited Wi-Fi is available at Malaga Airport. There are dedicated work areas which offers desks and outlets for charging mobile devices. ATMs, operated by Banca March and Euronet, are available. In addition, exchange offices are also available throughout the terminals. Urgent and emergency medical care is available at the Medical Centre and pharmacies are also available at several locations.

Travelers who spend the night here will have to stay landside, even if they are already airside. Terminal 3 is more comfortable for resting, particularly behind the Burger King, around the baggage claim, or near the ground-floor bathrooms where benches and power outlets are located. Terminal 2 is busier and has no benches or chairs, so you’ll likely need a sleeping bag. The airport is open 24 hours, so you can spend your time here during long layovers. Alternatively, you can access a lounge, book a hotel room in the nearby hotels or even go out and explore the beauties of Malaga.

Ground Transportation

There are urban, intercity and long distance buses available that run to different destinations. There is an express bus that reaches the city center in 15 minutes. Intercity buses run to Marbella, Estepona and Malaga-Santa Amalia. Long-distance buses run to Motril, Granada, Sevilla or Algeciras.

RENFE C1 line links Malaga airport with the city center in about 12 minutes. It also runs to other destinations such as Benalmadena or Torremolinos.
In addition to these public transportation options (or perhaps paying for a taxi service), you can also book a reliable door-to-door private transportation with UpTransfers, carried out with a modern fleet of fully licensed and insured vehicles, and be welcomed at the airport by an English-speaking driver - an excellent choice for traveling with style.
