If you drive east of Brussels and Leuven you can travel about Flemish Brabant. The region where Aarschot is located is called Hageland. According to local stories Aarschot’s origin goes back to the distant past, dating back to the era of Roman emperors. The church, dominating the view of the city, is built with the typical brown stone quarried in the nearby hills. These same hills gave home to famous vineyards in the Middle Ages.
