Situation

Durbuy is a beautiful small town in the province of Luxembourg, in Belgium. Allegedly it is the smallest one in the world but having about 10.000 inhabitants, this claim is not sufficiently grounded. The town centre was built in the 17 th century. The streets of the town are narrow, cobbled and romantic. Durbuy is also famous for its excellent food.

Accessibility

The town can be reached from Brussels by train (Brussels North, Central and Midi stations) and, of course, by road. Passengers have to change train in Barvaux, from where a shuttle runs to Durbuy. Trains go to Barvaux twice every hour.

Transfers2airports.com offers the best rates for low cost airport taxi transfers between Durbuy and Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, your driver will wait for you at the meeting point (the meeting point is always specified in your airport transfer voucher). If you need a taxi or airport transfer from Durbuy to Brussels or Charleroi Airports, your driver will inform you about the exact pick up time at least 24 hours before the transfer.

Places of interest

The main attraction of this settlement is the town itself, with its above mentioned streets, flowery balcons, tiny shops and cafés. A nice walk in the old town is absolutely unforgettable.

The Topiary park
It is an apparent contradiction that the town claims to be the smallest one, and has the largest topiary park at the same time. The park covers an area of more than 3.000 m2 with some 250 clipped box trees. This park is a really spectacular one. The trees and bushes are clipped into various forms, geometrical, even human and animal forms.

The Belvedere
It is a place of vantage that attracts many photographers. The Belvedere is at the top of the cliff towering behind the town. The view is amazing over the town and of the valley of the River Ourthe.

The Confiturerie Saint-Amour
The Confiturerie Saint-Amour is a jam factory open for visitors. Visitors can follow the whole process of making jam mainly by hand in large copper cauldrons. The entry is free. Jam can be purchased in the factory shop, which also sells a varity of foods of the neighbouring area.

Markloff Brewery
This is a traditional Belgian brewery with the characteristics of the world famous Belgian beers.

The Tourist Road-Train is a very gemütlich way to see the Belvedere and Saint-Amour jam factory. Of course these places can be reached on foot as well. You just have to walk up to the steep hill. The train-trip takes about 30 minutes and includes a trip around town before the train makes the climb up the hill.

Christian Markets
Christmas Market in the streets of Old Durbuy in December.
