Transfer from Brussels Airport to Liége

transfers2airports.com offers the best rates for low cost airport taxi transfers between Liège and Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport.

The city is renowned for its very lively folk festivals, from which the 15 August festival ("Le 15 août") might be the most famous. People gather in a quarter called Outre-Meuse in which there are plenty of tiny streets and old yards. In many cases people come here to see the procession but at the same time to drink alcohol and beer, eat cabbage, sausages or pancakes or simply enjoy the partying atmosphere until early morning next day. The Saint Nicholas festival around the 6 December is created for the students of the University; they temselves organise it; for 24 hours, the students (wearing very dirty lab-coats) are allowed to go cadging for drinking.

Transfers2airports.com offers the best rates for low cost airport taxi transfers between Liège and Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, your driver will wait for you at the meeting point (the meeting point is always specified in your airport transfer voucher). If you need a taxi or airport transfer from Liège to Brussels or Charleroi Airports, your driver will inform you about the exact pick up time at least 24 hours before the transfer.

A statue in Liége

Liège (until September 1946 the city's name was written Liége, with the acute accent instead of a grave accent) is a large city and municipality of Belgium in the province of Liège. Liège is the economical centre of this area. The province is in Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium.

The city is built in the valley of the Meuse River, in the country's eastern part bordered by the Netherlands and Germany. The river Meuse flows together here with the river Ourthe. It is in the former sillon industriel, the industrial centre of the Walloon region. The Liège municipality includes the former settlements of AngleurBressouxChênéeGlainGrivegnéeJupille-sur-MeuseRocourt, and Wandre.

The city is the cultural centre of Wallonia. Today, 2012, Liège gives home to about 200,000 inhabitants. The metropolitan area, with the outer commuter zone has a total population of around 750,000. Liège is the third most populous urban area in Belgium, after Brussels and Antwerp, and the fourth municipality after Antwerp, Ghent and Charleroi.

Sights

The palace of the Prince-Bishops of Liège is erected on the Place St. Lambert in the 16th century. Another cathedral stood here before the French Revolution – the St. Lambert's. A sort of archeological exhibition, the Archeoforum, can be seen under the Place St Lambert.

The perron on the nearby Place du Marché used to be the symbol of justice in the Prince-Bishopric and is now can be regarded as the symbol of the city. It is in front of the city hall built in the 17th century.

There is a treasury and also and Saint Lambert’s tomb in the present Liège Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Paul. This church is one of the original seven collegiate churches, which include the German-Romanesque St Bartholomew's Church (Saint Barthélémy) and the church of St. Martin.

Liége

The church of Saint-Jacques in most people’s opinion is the most beautifully built medieval church in Liège. It is built in the so-called Flamboyant-Gothic style, while the porch is early Renaissance. The statues are made by a Liège sculptor Jean Del Cour. Saint-Jacques also contains 29 amazing 14th century misericords.

The museums worth visiting in Liège are: MAMAC (Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art), Museum of Walloon Life, and Museum of Walloon Art & Religious Art (Mosan art). The Grand Curtius Museum is an elegantly furnished mansion from the 17th century by the Meuse River, with collections of Egyptology, weaponry, archaeology, fine arts, religious art and Mosan art.
