Transfer from Brussels Airport to Namur

transfers2airports.com offers the best rates for low cost airport taxi transfers between Namur and Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport.

Namur is the capital of Wallonia, southern half of Belgium where French is spoken.

The city is located 60 km south-east of Brussels. It is easy to access by road (from Brussels), train or boat (the river Meuse runs from France and the Samber flows through Namur where they join).

Namur

Transfers2airports.com offers the best rates for low cost airport taxi transfers between Namur and Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, your driver will wait for you at the meeting point (the meeting point is always specified in your airport transfer voucher). If you need a taxi or airport transfer from Namur to Brussels or Charleroi Airports, your driver will inform you about the exact pick up time at least 24 hours before the transfer.

Get around

Namur is a quite large city therefore it is difficult to discover it on foot. The system of streets of the city is complex so it is not easy to find one’s way about. Apparently cycling is not too popular with the locals, probably due to the many cobbled streets. On the other hand cyclists are given access to many, so they enjoy special privileges.

Sights

The most popular object attracting tourists is the citadel. It is on a hill over the river Meuse (Dutch: Maas) and is open for visitors. The Museum of Old Namurois Art, a collection of Medieval and Renaissance Christian art is also worth seeing. The Archaeological Museum mostly exhibits artifacts from Roman Namur. The largest part of the city centre is beautiful, and is built in a French style.

The treasure of Hugo d'Oignies must be seen in any case.

Meuse Namur

Do

Cycling up and through the Citadel. A network of mountain bike itineraries begins and ends in Namur.

A tour company (Les Kayaks Bleus, www.lessekayaks.be) organises river kayaking trips in a neighbouring town, Dinant. Apparently it is no trouble to paddle downstream all the way to Holland and the North Sea.

Namur Citadel

Learn

University of Namur (Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix). More than 5,000 students.

Shopping

Namur is often referred to as being an open-air shopping mall. Major shopping streets stretch from the Namur train station to Rue de Fer and Rue de l'Ange where you will find the usual fashion outlets like H&M, Charles Vogele, etc.

Eat

Pâtisserie Café Dumont (Rue de Marchovelette 21) has waffles with whipped cream and melted chocolate.

Le Panorama restaurant, in the Citadel (Route Merveilleuse 82): with a terrace of amazing view over the city and the river.

Le Chemin du Cedre (Rue Saint Loup 4) has great Lebanese food at reasonable prices. Very beautiful garden.

Drink

Galler is a chocolate shop-cum-café. The place is an elegant old-fashioned café with a large selection of hot chocolates. Les Thés de Sophie sells and serves speciality teas.

Peanuts, Rue de l'Ouvrage 3. Nice beers and a nice terrace.

Get out

Namur might be chosen as a gateway to the Ardennes and Luxembourg. A train goes to Basel, Switzerland.
