- Beach(es): Ostend is visited by many people who come in the morning and leave in the evening, mainly during July and August. From other Belgian regions and from abroad tourists mostly arrive by train (day trips) and bound for the closest beach from the station (kleinstrand). Locals and usually occupy the larger beach (grootstrand). The city used to be visited by many British, German, French and Dutch tourists, but is now mainly frequented by Belgians and Dutch.

- Close to the beach is found a section of the fortified Atlantic Wall, which is in very good condition. It is open to the public as the Atlantic Wall Open Air Museum.

- Oostende railway station.

- Views from the pier promenade of departing and arriving ferries from Ramsgate (UK).

- There are lovely little streets around Het Vissersplein. Visitors can always have nice walks there. Occasionally you can find local markets in the neighbouring streets, and in summer the Vissersplein has music festivals. The Vissersplein (Bonenstraat/Kadzandstraat) is a zone free of cars so you can enjoy your drink outside of of the many brasseries. Towards the port side there are many little fish outlets, and beyond that, again, you can have a close view to the ferries docking.

- More and more directors film in the city.

- The movie films like Place Vendôme with Catherine Deneuve; Daughters of Darkness with Delphine Seyrig as Countess Bathory; Armaguedon with Alain Delon; Camping Cosmos with Lolo Ferrari; and Ex Drummer based on the novel by Herman Brusselmans were partially shot in Ostend.
