Events

Turnhout gives home to the biannual comic festival called Strip Turnhout. This is the oldest comic festival of Flanders, and it counts to the largest ones.The film festival called Open Doek is organized annually, which promotes cultural movies. During the summer months, the "Vrij-dagen" take place. During a certain period, two artists or bands give a live performance every Friday. The entrance to the event is absolutely free of charge, with many people attending, therefore it has an important positive impact on local economy. However, due to monetary difficulties, the "Vrij-dagen" have been discontinued since 2009.
