Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport – Aéroport Paris–Charles de Gaulle. In French it is also called Roissy Airport. This airport is not only the largest one in France, but one of the most important airports all over the world. It has got its name after Charles de Gaulle (1890–1970), French general, commander of the Free French Forces in WWII and President of the French Fifth Republic. The airport is divided into several communes, 25 km to the northeast of Paris. The airport is the principal hub for Air France.
Due to its extension and importance the airport is a very busy one. In 2012 it managed serving 61,556,202 arriving and departing passengers and 497,763 aircraft movements, by which it was the seventh busiest airport of the globe and the second busiest airport in Europe (after London Heathrow). It also is the world's tenth busiest and Europe's busiest airport in aircraft movement.

Location
The CDG Airport is situated in a land of 32.38 square kilometres. This vast area was separated due to the limited opportunities of potential relocations and expropriations, and to  leave the possibility for further expansions. It embraces three départements and six communes:
Seine-et-Marne département: communes of Le Mesnil-Amelot (Terminals 2E, 2F), Mauregard (Terminals 1, 3), Mitry-Mory
Seine-Saint-Denis département: commune of Tremblay-en-France (Terminals 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, and Roissypôle)
Val-d'Oise département: communes of Roissy-en-France and Épiais-lès-Louvres
The management of the airport is under the exclusive authority of Aéroports de Paris (ADP), which also directs Orly, Le Bourget, Marsa Alam in Egypt, and a few smaller airports in the suburbs of Paris.

Terminals

Terminal1
The Airport has three terminals from which Terminal 1 is the oldest one. Terminal 2 was originally built for Air France only, but afterwards it has been largely expanded, and now also hosts other airlines. The third terminal (T3, formerly T9) hosts charter and low-cost airlines. The CDGVAL is a light-rail shuttle that links the terminals, railway station and parking lots. The shuttled commenced working on 4th April 2007, and links all three terminals (save hall 2G). There is only a single station At Terminal 2 a single stetion has been built, near the rail station, giving more walking distance to the more distant halls 2A–2B than 500 m.

Terminal2
It is of seven terminals: 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, and, at a distance of 800 m, 2G. The first six are linked by ground-level or below-ground passageways. Terminal 2G can be accessed by bus. Terminal 2 has an RER and TGV station, Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 – TGV, below the common area linking halls 2C–2F.

Terminal 3
Terminal 3 has a single hall. Its distance is 1 km from Terminal 1, but the walking path is 3 km (1.9 mi) long. The RER and CDGVAL trains are at a distance of 300 m.
